Twilight in Misamis: Josefa Borromeo Capistrano's Guerrilla Days
Erma CuizonA creative non-fiction Cuizon started in the early ‘90s, scans through the biography of a breed of women in the resistance movement amidst the perils of World War II. The protagonist, a Cebuana of the Borromeo clan, organized the women's guerilla in her husband’s place, Misamis.
The story process stretched to about a year of interviews with Capistrano, who is in her 70s, by the way, had read Cuizon’s completed manuscript. The published version, which stitches Capistrano’s narrations perfectly, reviews the historical contribution of unsung women during an era of perturbation in the country.
